Like the island of cyclops. Taken yesterday during my morning walk.
Must be that time of season..it’s begun to snow.

Comment by Allen Capoferri November 30, 2012 @ 6:05 pmAllen, does this rock have a name? Or is it called Monolith?
Comment by drawandshoot November 30, 2012 @ 6:10 pmHi Karen, I named the post Monolith because of the feeling I had while there not only from the rock but from the people I encountered there. I thought it a good metaphor.

Comment by Allen Capoferri November 30, 2012 @ 7:38 pmwell captured and very striking indeed. the immobility of the block versus the flying clouds and the little men n women walking around present such a contrast!

. Good to hear from you Janice!
Comment by Allen Capoferri December 14, 2012 @ 4:19 pmYour play with metaphors makes me think of 2001 A Space Odyssey. But the monolith looks a little sad and lonely out there, maybe it’s lost its powers? A great capture, and even if the snow is somewhat artificial, it look like it was a cold morning. Was it shot at the Oregon coast? – just looks like it to me.
Comment by munchow December 15, 2012 @ 2:09 pmYes it looks like cartoon snow (I like that). That sure creates a juxtaposition to the photograph.
The rock and the atmosphere created such a epic look. Along with the people I encountered the word seemed to fit best. The climactic temperature wasn’t cold but I sure got that feeling there so it seems that worked too.
The location is actually Pismo Beach although now that you say it, judging from my knowledge of the west coast that would have been my guess too.
