via Russian Hill
During my travels in San Francisco I climbed Russian Hill. I took these photos below there. Upon taking them I sat on a ledge of a planter that had a hedge in it before heading down again. While leaving I realized my day planner was gone. I then remembered I used it as a cushion on the ledge. Within an hour of realizing this my daughter received a message on her phone. On her phone the message and the accent indicated they were from Alabama. They said they found my planner on the ledge and hid it in the hedge where only I could find it. I found it the next day. I was not only thankful but also impressed with their integrity and resourcefulness. I still don’t know how they found my daughter’s phone number.

I’ve always liked seeing artists work in progress (sometimes more than finished work). It shows the process of work, the thinking. I thought possibly others may enjoy it as well, like in this gouache sketch I did.

It’s photo time. Above are stormy seas I took around Christmas. It was kind of fun a little scary to watch. It’s one of my recent favorites.

I realized I hadn’t posted a photo for while. This is one of my latest favorites I took during my morning walk.

While sketching, these tiny birds with an olive underbelly flew in front of me…they were so small they’d fit in the palm of your hand.
I’ve been to this place to sketch enough times that there’s a cow who recognizes me when I go here. When I was there with a friend once she asked,” Does she still love you”? Last time I went there was couple with a child there. The cow walked over to me and began shaking its head. The woman said, “She likes you!”. Funny, I had to smile…that’s always lost on me unless someone says.

I went out early one morning this weekend for my walk. Earlier than my usual early. Before the sun had risen. When I got to the promenade there were a few cars. Another car drove up and three young girls got out. They were young. Young enough to make me wonder which one was old enough to drive? I also thought we must be the only people out. As they passed me they acted as guilty as heck…like they were hiding something. Shrug. One said “Hi!”, really just way to put on a face. She was the one with very long wavy hair. “Good morning”. They went down to the beach and I walked by. On my way back home I saw one of the group was sitting on the beach. The others were in the water. They were only a silhouette in the dark. Must have been cold. Skinny dipping?

I know I’ve mentioned this before…I have the most fun sketching people. This is the first time I’ve sketched people on the beach. It hadn’t crossed my mind before getting into I’d get as much attention (back). It was alright though.
